Factory outlets and debit receipts; how to qualify for the lawsuit settlement money

PHOENIX – Do outlet stores sell the same things you can find in their other stores, but at better prices? That’s what many factory outlet buyers may think.

However, a class action lawsuit alleges Coach outlet stores do not operate that way.

The lawsuit claims that despite the labels appearing to have markdowns, Coach outlet stores are full of items made specifically for point of sale and not sold elsewhere.

Scott Hardy, with topclassactions.com, states that the settlement means if you purchased from a Coach outlet store between December 23, 2011 and August 24, 2020. And the item must have a tag showing a suggested retail price.

Customers could get $ 10 in cash or a $ 40 voucher.

The deadline to file a complaint is Thursday, January 21, 2021.

Another settlement involves questions about a lifetime warranty. This sounds great until you try to use some of them and find out any conditions that can make them unnecessary.

A lawsuit against Costa Del Mar claims that the lifetime warranty on their sunglasses comes with unfair repair costs. The lawsuit claims it’s more than a nominal fee.

A settlement means that if you bought before 2018 and paid for the repairs, you could be eligible for a portion of the $ 60 million settlement.

The deadline to file a complaint is January 31, 2021.

Another class action lawsuit involves something you may not know; privacy laws prevent credit and debit card receipts from showing more than the last five digits.

Additionally, receipts cannot display expiration information.

A lawsuit involving Everi, the ATM and casino provider, alleges receipts showed more numbers than allowed.

If by any chance you have these receipts from February 2016 to 2019, you could get up to $ 60 per violation.

But the law allows up to $ 1,000 per offense if you can prove it. Unfortunately, you may have to go to court to get it.
